Day of Discernment (Columbia)
March 15 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Day of Discernment is a day-long dive into what the day-to-day experience is like for people being called by God into ordained ministry or lay ministry.
The Diocesan Day of Discernment is the first step along a years-long path toward ordained ministry and
is required to enter the formal discernment process should the inquirer choose to enter into it.
This day is an opportunity to ask questions and gather information about either ordained or lay ministry to serve God.
It should be noted that in most cases a person feeling called into ordained ministry should be a confirmed person in The Episcopal Church for a minimum of three full years and that person should have a conversation with their Rector prior to attending the day of discernment as a potential inquirer.
If you have questions or would like more information regarding the Day of Discernment please contact The Rev. Mary Balfour Dunlap, Chair of the Commission on Ministry at [email protected].
