Welcoming Ms. Laura Lipscomb, Interim Director of Christian Formation
Bishop Daniel Richards is pleased to announce that he has called Ms. Laura Lipscomb to serve as Interim Director of Christian Formation for the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina.
Laura Lipscomb has been in youth ministry a very long time. Having grown up in Charlotte, she was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Youth Community, which started her journey in Youth Ministry. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, having started her undergrad at Sewanee and learned much of what she knows from working summers at Camp Cheerio in the N.C. Mountains. Laura served as Youth Minister at St. Paul’s, Winston-Salem, was Diocesan Youth Coordinator and Summer Camp Director for the Episcopal Diocese of Florida, and is currently the part-time Youth Minister at St. Peter’s in Greenville, SC.
Laura is a member at St. James, Greenville, is married to George, and has two grown sons, Josh and Burke, and now a daughter-in-law, Sally. When she isn’t ordering pizza, coordinating a fun outing, or coming up with cool object lessons to explain faith formation - Laura enjoys hiking, woodworking, walking her dog Paxi, laughter, chocolate and friends. She and her team are currently building a formation training and internship program called Y-FI: Laura is passionate about training and equipping the next generation of ministers in the Episcopal Church. She is very excited to be on board with all things youth in EDUSC, and can’t wait to see what God has in store for us as we search for our next Diocesan Formation Director.
Ms. Lipscomb joined the Diocesan House staff on August 1.
