Vocare is a form of the Latin word meaning "to call." The Vocare weekend is a renewal weekend for 18-30-year-old young adults to join together for fellowship and discernment. At this time they face many serious decisions, which will likely impact much of their adult life. Vocare came into existence in Sept. 1980 when a number of Happening graduates met in Dallas, Texas, to plan the first Vocare weekend. The name of the ministry and the format of the Vocare weekend was chosen at a meeting in Dallas in Dec. 1980. Vocare National was established in Feb. 1989.
