Reading Matters Training Sessions
Monday, August 12th, 2019, 6:30 PM
Reading matters because our children matter.
Faith leaders and congregations who have partnered with Richland School District One are taking steps to address the critical issue of literacy as a foundation of a strong education. Building on a multi-denominational program that began in January of 2015, we will continue to pair reading tutors with children in first and second grades. The children will be identified by their teachers as students whose reading will benefit from extra attention given by tutors.
Tutoring will improve the children's ability to read. We believe this will cultivate in them a life long love of reading. Join us!
Tutoring will begin on the week of September 30 - October 4. Tutors are asked to commit one hour a week for the school year. Tutoring will be offered at the following Richland One elementary schools:
- A.J. Lewis Greenview
- H.B. Rhame
- Hyatt Park
- Pine Grove
- William S. Sandel
- Edward E. Taylor
- J.P. Thomas
Training will be provided by Richland One on Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m. You are only required to attend one training session.
Background checks are required for all school volunteers. Please take the time to fill out this new volunteer application.
