Diocesan Spotlight

Call for applicants to serve on the Bishop's Campus Ministries Task Force

Feast of the Epiphany 2017

Grace and Peace to you in Christ Jesus:

This past November, the 94th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina resolved that I should appoint a task force to discern and design an effective strategy and cost for renewing and rebuilding campus ministry (a.k.a., Canterbury Ministry) across the Diocese. Convention further approved seed money for that work and for initial strategic efforts. This letter seeks nominees for service on the Canterbury Ministries Task Force.

We are looking for nominees who:
- Are involved with, passionate about and have a stake in effective campus ministry
- Are willing to think outside the box
- Are self-starters
- Will take responsibility for and participate fully in the life and work of the Task Force
- Can meet monthly, if needed
If you are nominating someone else, please send as soon as possible his or her name, contact information, and why you believe he or she would make a good candidate. We encourage you to forward the attached application to that person, but would also appreciate your rationale and endorsement for a particular candidate. If you wish to apply yourself, see below for when and where to send your application.

Appointment to the Task Force assumes a willingness to serve at least for the 18-months during which the work should be accomplished and plans initiated. The chief tasks of this group will be:
- Plan a timeline of work making a report and a possible resolution to the 95th Convention of the Diocese, November 3-4, 2017, at Church of the Advent, Spartanburg. The Commission may also consider making reports at Convocation meetings.
- Develop a vision for our campus ministries, including the hiring of campus chaplains, associated costs, and utilization of the seed money.

Send your completed application to Canon Kellie Wilson (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
- Applications due: Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
- Appointments announced: Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
Thank you for participating in this sacred project—by nominating or applying. I ask your continued prayers and support as we work.

In his name,
