Is God calling you?

Diocesan Recruitment for Young Vocations (DRYV) is a program designed to identify, recruit, and engage young adults in a one to two year process of discernment for ordained ministry. It is structured to take into consideration college schedules, the need for formation in a peer community, and a structured process of exploration and formation with both lay and ordained mentors.

Discerning a call to vocational ordained or lay ministry can bring about a lot of questions, hopes, and the desire to make the right decision. The DRYV program seeks to bring together young adults feeling called to consider ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church, and to help them answer that question.

At one time young adults were discouraged from seeking ordination without “more life experience.” Recognizing that young adults have much to offer the Church and the world, this program hopes to assist those listening for God’s call in their life and to discern their gifts for vocational ministry.

We want to encourage young adults to be the next generation of clergy serving Christian communities in a variety of ways and places.

This program has been developed to fulfill all of the canonical requirements for ordination. It will provide you with the opportunity to complete a discernment process in 1-2 years. It is sensitive to the needs of college or graduate students who may be away from home, and may not be able to “take a year off” before applying for seminary.

Monthly gatherings will take us on a journey of personal reflection, and vocational discernment. From “Who am I?” to “Where am I going?” we hope to answer the difficult question you are faced with: “What is God calling me to be?”
