Clemson Engineers for Developing Countries invites you to its end-of-semester summit

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Alumni,

You are cordially invited to attend the Clemson Engineers for Developing Countries (CEDC) end of semester summit that showcases the students projects. CEDC is a student organization under the Creative Inquiry program at Clemson University that works to develop sustainable solutions that improve the quality of life through interdisciplinary student-led initiatives. Currently over +90 students, with 30+ majors represented, are enrolled and meet collectively for two hours on Friday afternoons. However, our involvement does not end in the classroom.

Since 2011, we have had student interns on the ground in Haiti. Nearly six hundred students have participated in CEDC so far. Their achievements in the classroom and the field have garnered a number of awards, including the 2014 Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education from the Institute of International Education and the 2011 Commendation of Excellence for Service-Learning from the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. For you to learn more about our program, we would like to formally invite you to our Summit Presentation on Friday, April 28th, 2017 in the Humanitarian Engineering Research and Design Studio (HERDS) of Clemson University located at 500 Lebanon Road Pendleton, SC 29670. This event will provide a greater glimpse of who we are as an organization, current projects both being researched and implemented, how these students are being prepared for jobs in industry, as well as opportunities for you, and your organization to contribute to this award-winning and world-changing program.

Refreshments will begin at 3:00pm in the design studio. Presentations will start promptly at 3:30pm and conclude at approximately 4:15pm. Following formal presentations, all students will participate in a poster session with some project teams demonstrating their prototypes developed this semester, and all students will be available for questions. Directions and parking instructions will be issued at a later date. Please RSVP by Tuesday, April 25th with your intentions. Sincerely,   David Vaughn Professor of Practice Glenn Department of Civil Engineering, Lowry Hall, Clemson University 306 S.
