Virtual “Quiet Day,” bishop’s blog, and more
As in years past, our diocesan ECW is
offering a Quiet Day “on-the-net” via the diocesan
Web site. The theme this year
is “Prepare in us, O Lord, a cradle that we might learn to love
and cherish You,” featuring meditations by Arden W. Mead. Click
here for a direct link.
The bishop is blogging for Advent right here (but you have to scroll down!).
The diocesan Web site is also offering links to an online Advent calendar and a series of resources for children, both shared with us courtesy of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. The calendar is in the design of a Peruvian tapestry of unspun wool. It depicts a rural Nativity scene in which shepherds in traditional white, black-banded hats pay homage to a Christ child sheltered beneath a rough stone arch. The calendar was created by Amy Elliott, the diocesan communications assistant. Meditations were selected by the Rev. Deacon Vicki K. Black, author of Welcome to the Church Year. Click here for a direct link to the calendar and children's resources.
For those into pod casting, check out our link to the Young Adult Ministry Web site at Georgia Southern University, featuring daily Advent meditations, downloadable materials, and some fantastic illustrations.
