Come to St. James, Greenville, October 27-28, for a Women's Contemporary Prayer Bead Retreat. Participants will have the opportunity to create a prayer shawl, which is a string of beads that represents people in your life, goals you may have set, events you may want to pray about, and so on.  Retreat leader is Charlie Knerr, seminarian and spiritual director, who has been beading for many years and has many examples of beaded pieces you can create to use for prayer--from pieces that fit in a pocket or purse to pieces that may be worn

Hear ye, hear ye! Holy Cross, Simpsonville, to hold medieval festival, October 27-28

Holy Cross, Simpsonville will hold their ninth annual Medieval Festival October 27-28, 2006. Admission is free and all benefits of the pumpkin sale benefit Habitat for Humanity. Come one, come all.

Come visit a festive village straight out of the Middle Ages, plucked from the midst of time and settling in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where history and legend mingle. You might see Robin Hood swaggering down the lane, knights preparing for a joust, beautiful princesses, sorcerers, minstrels, all appearing while a benevolent king and queen, with their enchanted entourage, browse the wares of mortal merchants and feast upon food fit for a king.

The Holy Cross Medieval Festival covers the period of time from the 12th through the 14th centuries. Authentic costumes, artisans educating by demonstrating their crafts in the Arts and Craft Pavilion, sword exhibitions in the Tournament Field, jousting, an incredible array of fine food and drink, magicians, storytellers, minstrels, merchants offering their wares, children’s games, horseback riding, and a 12th-century labyrinth await your arrival. Come as you are or dress in costume. Contact the church for more information or directions: 864.967.7470.
