On Sunday, June 1, at his annual visitation to St. Philip's, Greenville,
Bishop Henderson (with rector the Rev. Beth Ely at right) consecrated and anointed St. Philip's new altar.
This is the first altar that is not a hand-me-down from another congregation in the history of St. Philip's, which was founded as an African-American mission in 1914. The new altar and altar rails were made and donated by Aubrey Rogers, a parishioner of Christ Church, Greenville, and a mastercraftsman.
Mr. Rogers is currently working on a new baptismal font.
