The EYC of St. Michael and All Angels’, Columbia, has sent a check for
$600 gathered from youth fundraisers throughout the year to Episcopal Relief
and Development (ERD) for use in bringing relief to those facing the threat
of genocide in the Sudan.
In a letter to Richard Radke, ERD executive director, St. Michael’s Youth
Committee chair Richard Vandiver described the young people’s dedication to
“the principle that we must all work together to ensure that justice, peace
and prosperity remain within the reach of our brothers and sisters
worldwide,” noted that the donation was being made in honor of the
congregations of Beth Shalom Synagogue and Tree of Life Synagogue, both in
Columbia, and asked that the funding be used in connection with ERD’s
“ongoing partnership with the Sudanese Development and Relief Agency (SUDRA).”
These young people inspire us and make all of us Upper South Carolinians
proud. What a great EYC project to remember—and replicate!
