The central theme of James' ministry is that genuine faith will produce

good works, key verse "be doers of the word, and not hearers only..."

James 1:22. Cursillo is about leadership through being faithful servants and the ministry of James provides a blue print for the Christian life. The key to "being doers of the word" is faithfulness, honest, spirit filled, spirit led faithfulness.

James cautions us against contradicting the gospel with our lives, professing to trust God we, at times, cling tightly to the world and its values. If we are honest with ourselves we have all experienced this in our 4th day journey.

Central to avoiding this scenario is prayer.

James was known as "Old Camel Knees" because of thick calluses built upon his knees from years of determined prayer. Prayer is foundational to faithfulness. Faithfulness to our lord and savior Jesus Christ produces the servant leaders our world so desperately needs. It is the key to living in the world but not being of the world.

As we struggle with our own "hostile

environments" we are cautioned not to let intellectual agreement pass for faith. Genuine faith transforms lives. James encourages us to put our faith into action by serving others.

Read James and become a doer of the word! James 1: 22-25
