Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina

Diocesan Disaster Plan

The purpose of a disaster response plan is to assure the viability of the church, its associated ministries and its assets. The emphasis of the plan should be on pre‐disaster planning and recovery. During times of disaster, we may be in the affected area and need help ourselves. If not, we may be able to offer help to others. The Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina plans to be prepared to both receive help and offer help. This practical icon Quick Tip Guide will provide guidance to the Diocese and churches in the development of their own policies and procedures for whatever situation may arise. This document is a very abbreviated guide for churches to use to prepare for disasters and critical incidents.

Whenever a disaster does occur, clergy and churches should communicate with the Diocesan Office. Should communications be down or the Diocesan Office has been relocated, disaster response information will be communicated in the best way possible depending on the circumstances.

EDUSC has an Emergency Relief Fund to which parishes can apply for help if facilities have been damaged, as well as to start ministries in the community to aid neighbors and parishioners. Please see the icon EDUSC Emergency Relief Fund Application.
