From a Cursillista of Cursillo 90

A September 2001 Fourth Day article.

Cursillo 90. I knew in my heart that Cursillo was for me, yet at the same time I was feeling a bit apprehensive. I didn't know what would or would not take place. This is when my imagination began to work overtime. Cursillo seemed like the perfect next step on my journey to know and love Christ.

This last year really has been a time of transformation for myself, and it started out so simple. I was attending church regularly along with Sunday morning bible study. Then there was the step I took to attend a Sunday morning study on prayer. My eyes were beginning to open and my heart longing for more. The next step was put right before me: Discovery Weekend at Holy Cross. Soon to follow was an intense Beth Moore bible study. I was truly being fed and loving every minute of it.

Of course, Cursillo was my next step. The weekend truly was a gift from God and everyone else who made it possible. I loved letting go and being on God's time. Looking back, I cherish every memory of Cursillo (i.e., the presentations, table discussions, singing, palanca, banquet, etc.). Did I mention the palanca? It was such a wonderful surprise and filled with so much love. Imagine people I didn't even know taking the time to write to me! The weekend was full of love and surprises. I can still remember how awestruck I was at the closing ceremony.

I know that I'm just in the beginning stages of my path, but I'm looking forward to the lifelong journey ahead of me as I live out my fourth day. I will embrace the memories of all the special people whose paths have crossed mine. There is one special memory I would like to share of Cursillo and that is the joy of being serenaded Sunday morning to the beautiful sounds of De Colores!
